Re: formula to pull data from another workbook in excel

I have a workbook named Agent Queues with my agents names with a total amount of incidents completed for a certain date. the other workbook created is called an error tracker which will need to pull the total for the specific agent name for the sepecific date from workbook Agent Queues automatically,

    eg:

    Agent Queues

    Agents Date total incidents
    Alan Modeste 13/01/01 10
    rea Franklyn 13/01/01 20

Error Tracker: 8 I want the error tracker to pull the total from agent queues for the specific name and date

    Agent Date total
    Alan Modeste 13/01/01 10
    rea Franklyn 13/01/01 20

I can send you a sample if you like

    No problem.

We'd need to know the full path to the Agent Queues file and what the sheet name is that contains the data.

Here is the full path where Agent Queues report is located: C:\Documents and Settings\cjohn\My Documents\My Exports\Agent Queues Report.xlsx and the name of the file the name of the sheet the data is located in is just named Sheet 1. The name of the workbook I want the info to go into is named Error Tracker and the sheet name is Agent Queues. I've attatched the two docs.

The data structure in the Agent Queues Report file is not conducive to easy analysis.

I would recommend a redesign to a database-like structure. Maybe put the agents names in column A and get rid of the superfluous text:

    Agent: Adrian Moore (1 item)
    Should be reduced to just:

    Adrian Moore

Then put the dates across the top in row 1.

    Or...

Put the dates in column A and put the agent names across the top on row 1.

Whichever you have the most of should be put in column A. If this is a daily record then you probably have (or will have) more dates than agents. In this scenario I would put the dates in column A and the agent names across the top row.
