LOOKUP amd SUBTRACTION! HOW?!

Hi Guys,

I'm still working on this project that would save my time on stock checks, how ever I can't find the right formula for subtracting used stuff from stock. Every time I play around with LOOKUP or IFERROR I hit a brick wall...Wrong cells Can anybody help me please? See attached

You need to apply TRIM to your values in column A, as some have leading spaces, double spaces etc. Also, the descriptions in column D need to be exactly the same as those used in column A in order to get an exact match - for example, you have "Mutt & Jeff Sausage" in column A and "M&J Sausage " in column D, so these will not be seen as the same by Excel. Once you have cleared that up, you should be able to use a formula like this in C2:

Thanks for quick answer, but Its not what u thought. see there's boxes and there's bags two different code names i need in 'stock left' column to show me how much is left of bags and the next one stock left how much is left in boxes.
