auto fill data in one cell based on formatting of another cell

On my spreadsheet I will be highlighting cells in one column, as I highlight I want a corresponding cell in that row to populate with an amount from another cell in that row.

So column O will copy the amount in Column N only when Column D is highlighted in yellow.

    Is this possible?

    Thanks,
    Amber

As far as I know, no formula can check to see if a cell is highlighted by any color. The color is not part of the contents of the cell.

    Hi ashouse

Like admmck81, I know of no formula. So I have used WorksheetChange. Note that any workbook using this will have to be saved as ".xlsm" instead of ".xlsx"

You may have to change your security settings to allow it to work

File / Options / Trust Center / Trust Center settings / Macro settings / Disable all macros with notification

Let me know if this works for you.

Sorry I may be an idoit but when you say right click on "highlight" what do you mean? I am not finding the folumla for reference.

Unfortunatly I will be unable to use this in this current sittuation as the spreadsheet is not mine to save with different format, but this would be good to know for future.

    Thanks for your help.

    Hi ashouse

You do not need to apologise, it is I who should have made it more clear.

The name of Sheet1 I have changed to Highlight. Right click on this tab name and you will be presented with a menu from which you may select "View code"
