    Selecting numbers from 10000

    Hi all

    example_excel_forum.xlsx

    I attach this worrkbook :

I have three columns as a result of requesting move or stop. I recorded the time of instruction. Also I recorded how to which level the movment should be reached ..etc.

Now, In reality I have 75 movement plus 75 stopping instructions. each instruction (FOR movement only) lasts for 3 seconds. However, I sampled or increased the intervals from recording the onset of the instruction to 3/60 = 0.05 instructions in order to record the response every 0.05. Notice that the stop instruction has different duration but the movement has 3 seconds.

I can filter the work book by just displaying the movement instruction. However, what I want is to select the onset of each trial and the either the max point within the 3 seconds range or their mean value.

Would this be possible to not do it manually?

    Thanks

    Hi fmri

I know it has been a busy weekend for me, but I am totally confused by your post!

" I have 75 movement plus 75 stopping instructions" where can I see this? (There appear to be 60 Move, then 40 Stop)
" in order to record the response every 0.05" There are a lot of intervals of 0.051 and some 0.052. I do not know whether this is significant - but it sure confuses.
"Notice that the stop instruction has different duration" Where will I notice this and different to what?
" what I want is to select the onset of each trial" How is this shown?

I think that if you were to post the figures showing your manual result, someone will be able to assist

    Regards
    Alastair

    Hi Aydeegee

    Sorry about the confusion.

I re-attached the file with an example that I did it manually. The time forget about it because it is very sensitive. If u filter the workbook. With just the word MOVE. you will see that u have 4500. 4500/60=75. So What I want is to create a new table that has 60*75 times.

In another word, I want to split the table that I have from being 4500 with just the word move to every 60. So select every 60 and split it into another column.

I hope this is clear now. I know in the example I did something different but if I could split them I could do these operations .

    thanks

    Hi fmri

I could not see your manual selection? However, I wonder if the following formulas will help: (I cannot attach files from my work computer)
