    Insert Text using Conditional Formatting

I will try to explain what I want the end result to be. I think it would be using conditional formatting, but not sure. Just for ease, cell A1 I want to have my customer name in it. When it doesn't have a specific customer name typed in the cell and is empty, I want it to have the words "Customer Name" in a gray shade. Is this possible? And how is it done?

    Thanks

Re: Insert Text using Conditional Formatting

Conditional Formatting will not insert a value (text or numeric) into a cell. If you want to have the value "Customer Name" in a cell, you need to populate it yourself. You can try going on to the VBA board, and asking if they can assist.
Don't just use the answers provided for you. Try to understand how it works by reverse engineering or asking about it.
