formula that identifies lines that are part of a group

    Hi,

I would be very grateful for some help !

I have a list of different items sold at different prices.
I have subtotaled it by item.
So I have a group per item.
In each group is a list of each sale of the same item at a different price.
I want to have the average selling price of each item.

How can I get excel to pick all prices in the group ? And then calculate the average ?

Many thanks for your help !

    Hi Roy,

    Thanks for your reply.

But how do I get excel to select the range as being only the lines part of the group ?

Also, this formula edits the 4 lines under it ???

    Thanks so much !

But I need the existing subtotal to know how many items have been sold. I need 2 subtotals for the same group : one to know how many were sold, one to know what the average price is.
