Sum a series of cells if a certain condition is met (Sumif?)

    Hello again, gentlemen and gentleladies:

I need to create several cells that will sum a series of cells if a certain condition is met. Let me show you:

    Capture.JPG

We're looking at the weights of a small vessel. All structural weight is listed under the WBS Group 100 "Hull Structure." 110 is the Shell and Supporting Structure portion. Under 110, we have 111 (Shell Plating), 114 (Shell Appendages), 116 (Longitudinal Framing), and so on. Each of those totals (In green) is a summation of the 11XXX entries below it. So for 111, it's summing 11101, 11102, and 11103. I hope I'm being clear.

What I'm trying to do is sum each hierarchical level. So, for the sums I'm trying to create, I'm just trying to make a check. There are seven primary groups (100, 200, ..., 600, 700) and each has the same additional tiers within them.

I'd like a cell that sums each level. So... if it is under "100 Hull structure", sum 110+120+130+140+150...(120, 130, 140, 150 not shownin picture) until it is gets to the 200 group.

If it is under "110 Shell and Supporting Structure" sum 111 (Shell Plating)+ 114 (Shell Appendages) + 116 (Longitudinal Framing) + 117 + 119.... stop when it's no longer under "110 Shell and supporting structure."

Then, if it is under "111 Shell Plating", sum until it reaches the next group (114 shell appendages).

I really need help here. I don't know how to do someting this in-depth. I can't simply sum columns because several of the cells are the sum of several cells in the same column.

If I need to clarify something, please tell me and I will do my best to do so. I really appreciate your time.

    Re: SumIF?

Please post a sample sheet. Pictures are nice to look at but useless

Whenever I try to upload the file in the uploader, it just gives me a black X and won't allow me to upload it. No explanation.

Anyways, I tried this for summing all of the triple-digit groups (100, 200, 300....):

    =SUMIF(F5:F393,A5:A393<>"",F5:F393)

The idea was that if A5 through A393 had anything in it, it would add the F column cells of the same row. But all I get is a 0 when I do it this way.
