Countifs using not equal

IS THERE A WAY TO COUNT A CELL IF NOT EQUAL TO A VALUE?
I HAVE A COLUMN THAT HAS EITHER BLANK, A, J, H, P, R, O
I WANT TO COUNT IF THAT COL IS "NOT EQUAL" TO O.

Thank you.. I know that was a stupid question, but I couldn't find how to express "NOT EQUAL"
