    Excel Function rounding when I don't want it to

    Untitled.jpg

    Im not sure if you can see this attachment or not, but basically I am starting with a simple excel function where I want to multiply one number times a percentage. (income)159,288 * 12% = $19,115;

    then I want to subtract the income (159,288 - 19,115) = 140,173

    My expenses are = $41,334 but when I subtract 140,173-41,334 its saying 98,840 instead of 98,839.

    Now Im sure theres some hidden .5 or greater somewhere in the equation, but I've hidden decimal spaces. How can I fix this?

    Thanks

    Re: Excel Function rounding when I don't want it to

    159288*12% equals 19114.56
    hence
    159288 - 19114.56 equals = 140,173.44

    Also your expenses are not a round 41334.

    Click on the , icon on the number ribbon to see the decimals

    Let's say that your 140,173 was actually 140,173.70

    This would recreate the calculation that you see.

    Expand the decimals by clicking on the Increase Decimal button (in the Home tab, Number section). This will show you.

    Is there a way to round those numbers to the nearest whole number?

    Wrap all your formulas with ROUND()

    Hence

    =ROUND(your formula,0)
