Sumif date is blank or earlier than current date

Greetings-I am trying to calculate the total hours of work on my schedule that is open based on the date in row J.
My goal is to track how many hours of work we have due for each day, tracing back on an old sheet.
I appreciate any help given on this.

I don't get it. Please fill in the first 10 rows or something and I'll figure it out.

=SUMIF($E$2:$E$24,"<"&G2,$F$2:$F$24)+SUMIF($E$2:$E$24," ",$F$2:$F$24)-SUM($I$1:I1)
