    Exclamation Formula issues (manually inputting vs short-cut!!)

    Hi All

    please see the document attached. The page the opens I would like to find a quicker way of putting all of the formulae in. For example, I have started filling the T, U and V for "clean and derivatives", but I am at the moment copying "week 1" formulae into week 2 and then going through and changing all of the wk1's in the formula to week 2 etc. I realise that this will take long time. Add to that I need to do this for each category, but rather than changing the weeks, I need to change the category number in the formula for all 52 weeks.

    Any help on how I can speed this up and do this quickly would be greatly appreciated.

    Kind regards

    David

    Try using the INDIRECT function and instead of putting Wk1, put the "file name ending in [Strength Monitoring 2014 VERSION 1.xlsx]Wk"$A6"&'!$AA$98. This should automatically change the week #. Note that the reference file has to be open, or you get a #REF error with INDIRECT.

    Thanks.

    Still a little confused. I had to move this sheet to a new file as the total file was too big to attach.

    Are you able to tell me what formula I have to write in cell T27 for example. If I can see it done once, then I will be able to work out the rest.

    Thanks again for your help

    Hi again

    perhaps this would be better. I have attached one of the source sheets so you can see what I am trying to do. I don't really understand the indirect function at this point, but would like to be shown how it might work for me. I have 51 other sheets for each week of the year, but if someone has the answer to a formula which I can use to calculate my cell values quickly, rather than manually inputting (for example);

    =SUMIF('Wk1'!$E$13:$E$72, "1", 'Week1-4'!$K$18)

    and doing this for each exercise category (e.g. 1 to 12) and each week that would make my life so much easier. Any help would be greatly appreciated

    Cheers

    David
