Help on a Simple Formula Please

    Good day to you all,

I'm going to be embarrassed here as I can't for the life of me figure something that appears to be so simple out, here goes,

I have two cells, A1 and B1 that are blank, in cell C1 I have a formula =IF(A1=B1,1,0). The idea is to type numbers in A1 and B1 and if the are equal the value 1 appears in C1 and if not the value 0 will appear.

However, with both A1 and B1 empty and as soon as I type the formula above into C1 and hit enter, I get the value 1.

Can somebody, point me in the right direction please.

    Yours, an embarrassed,
    seraphim666

    Hi

As you have not many posts here probably you haven't read the forum rules and specially rule 1 which describe how to use a correct title for your thread. Pls amend your title to something that describe your problem. Something like "Adding 1 more condition to an IF function" and then we'll be happy to offer a solution to your problem.
    Regards

    Fotis.

Re: Help on a Simple Formula Please

    Hi VKS,

Thank you for your prompt response. When I type the formula in and with cells A1 and B1 empty, it returns a blank cell that's great. However, when I input numbers lets say to A1 has 4 and B1 has 4, cell C1 returns 8.

What I would like is for cell C1 to return a value of 1 as A1 and B1 are equal.

Hope that makes sense. Sorry to be a pain.

    Regards,
    seraphim666
