I want to do a string based match that ignores numbers and spaces at the beginning. I've posted an example. The formula equates to an error but you can see what I mean.

For an exact match you need zero as 3rd argument in the MATCH function, i.e.
=MATCH("*transmission expense*",D2:D9,0)
Audere est facere
Perhaps if we use a helper and hidden column that we'll extract there only the text string..
