VLOOKUP and INDIRECT Functions - Help Please :)

    Hey everyone!

I'm currently using a VLOOKUP formula (=VLOOKUP(A13,Fiberglass!$B$5:$I$35,MATCH(B13,Fiberglass!$B$5:$I$5,0),FALSE) where the price of a particular size (A13) and thickness (B13) of pipe is looked up on a table on the "Fiberglass" tab. However, I was wondering if it is possible to have a cell (say C6) where I could type in "Fiberglass" or "Foamglass" and my formula would reference that particular tab.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Amy

    Try

    =VLOOKUP(A13,INDIRECT($A$1&"!$B$5:$I$35"),MATCH(B13,INDIRECT($A$1&"!$B$5:$I$5"),0),FALSE)

where A1 is the cell reference for the tab
    Life's a spreadsheet, Excel!

Your post does not comply with Rule 8 of our Forum RULES. Do not crosspost your question on multiple forums without including links here to the other threads on other forums.

Cross-posting is when you post the same question in other forums on the web. The last thing you want to do is waste people's time working on an issue you have already resolved elsewhere. We prefer that you not cross-post at all, but if you do (and it's unlikely to go unnoticed), you MUST provide a link (copy the url from the address bar in your browser) to the cross-post.

Expect cross-posted questions without a link to be closed and a message will be posted by the moderator explaining why. We are here to help so help us to help you!
