Advanced String Equation Needed

Hi,

I am maxed out on my Excel capabilities trying to write an equation to remove one or more sets of html codes from a text field. I've tried various combinations of substitute and find codes to no avail. I want to remove all texts within carats "<" and ">", including the carats. I've pasted an example below:

<P><EM>Use the pattern below to answer question 20.</EM></P><P><STRONG>1, 3, 7, 15, 31, 63</STRONG></P><P>The 14th term in this pattern is 16,383. What is the 15th term?</P>

It should read:
Use the pattern below to answer question 20. 1, 3, 7, 15, 31, 63 The 14th term in this pattern is 16,383. What is the 15th term?

Try this..

- Ctrl+H (Find & replace)
- Find field <*>
- Replace field leave as blank
- Replace all

You can do this in one operation using Find & Replace. Highlight the affected cells then CTRL-H to bring up the F&R dialogue box. Enter as follows:

Find what: <*>
Replace with: leave empty

Click Replace All. The asterisk is the wildcard character, which means any characters between the angle brackets.
