Creating Formula to loook up data accross various worksheets and return different results

Hi

I am trying to create a formula that will look up a reference in column A and then search across various worksheets to match this reference and then return the next sequential number off this particular tab?

I hope that this make sense and any help would be appreciated

Sounds like you need to use VLOOKUP within a nested IF, but without a sample spreadsheet and an example of result, it's difficult to expand on.

I am basically trying to lookup the reference in column A of the master tab and search the other tab/tabs for this reference and then return the next sequential value in column H of the relevant tab if this makes sense

I think I understand what you mean now and it's not quite what I had in mind. It looks like you may need some VBA to assist here, so if anyone else wants to jump in, feel free!! I will have a think about it though and if I come up with something, I'll let you know. Sorry I can't be of more help just now.
