I am willing to donate £10 to the charity of choice is anyone can help with this formula im trying to do.
I have been trying all day and not managed to get an if function to work.
Basically I have a total of 110,000 for sales in a cell and need a formula to work out commision at 50% of anything over 100,000. I know I want the answer to be 5000 but cannot work out the formula to show this.

=(H4-100000)*50%
H4 contains the sales figure
Assuming that you have sale figure in cell A1, then

To avoid negative commissions
=MAX(0,H4-100000)*50%

Formula posted in post#3 takes care of it and if sales figure is less than 100000 then it doesn't calculate a commission otherwise it calculates a commission of 50% for the amount greater than 100000. You can copy down the formula as required.Originally Posted by DC1987
