Apply Conditional Formatting to Multiple Columns

    Hello,

I am trying to use some conditional formatting in a spreadsheet, but I can't get the CF to apply to all of the columns. I have the simple formula "=$K4>$UAA4"" applied to K4:K15, K17, but I need to get this to apply to the same range of 4:15, 17 in all columns in between K and UAA.

I have tried simply copying and pasting the format from the original range of K4:K15, K17 to the aforementioned columns, but I have not been able to get that to work.

    I greatly appreciate any help!

    Thanks

If you select your entire range (i.e. K4:UAA17) and then enter your conditional formula, it should work.

    Try this:

    1) Select cells K4:UAA15
    2) Hold down CTRL and select cells K17:UAA17
    3) Hold down CTRL and select cell K4
    4) Apply CF formula: =$K4>$UAA4
    5) Choose your formatting and click OK

You always have to make sure that the ACTIVE cell is the one being referenced in the CF formula when you want to highlight a range of cells (across rows/columns)

    Should be good to go.

ChemistB's advice above will work as well, but it will include row 16. If that is OK, then do that, otherwise multi-select your range as I noted. =)

Re: Apply Conditional Formatting to Multiple Columns

Thanks for the help guys. I know exactly what you mean when you say to make sure that the active cell is the cell which is being referenced, but I still am unable to get this to work for some reason. I have multi-selected my range and have left the active cell as K4, but still no luck.

    Any other ideas?

    Thanks
