Find and read excel files in a specific folder

    Hey

Is there a easy way to have a cumulative excel workbook that adds specific cells from excel workbooks (sheets are identical in each workbook) that are named randomly.

For example. In a cumulative workbook, I would like to have a cell that adds all values in C11 on each workbook that is in c:\example\

    Is it too far fetched?

    hey

thanks for the video, good advices, but I probably explained it too narrowly.

Folder c:\example has today 50 excel workbooks (all have same sheets) and number of files increses everyday. Is there a formula that checks automatically each files "C11" for example and adds them up or does what I want with the numbers?

Re: Find and read excel files in a specific folder

    hi

Thanks for the help. learned again something new.

i pasted that code to excel (right clicked "view code" on sheet1) and couldnt get it to work.

I created 3 excel files, Book1, Book2 and Book3. I put "5" in to each "K5". Then I used that code to this fourth "All" workbook and it didnt work.

should i make some adjustments to this code or what?

Thanks for the help, and i know i am a tool

Without seeing your data or a sample of your data, it will be difficult to diagnose. Did you get an error message? Did you debug the code with the VBA compiler?

Attach a sample workbook. Make sure there is just enough data to make it clear what is needed. Include a BEFORE sheet and an AFTER sheet in the workbook if needed to show the process you're trying to complete or automate. Make sure your desired results are demonstrated, mock them up manually if needed. Remember to desensitize the data.

Click on GO ADVANCED and use the paperclip icon to open the upload window.
