    Index if without duplicates

    Hi,

I've got a master sheet with the following columns

    A-request date
    B-requester
    C-task
    D-deadline

I want to have separate sheets for each requester but i want to update only my master sheet and have the other sheets updated automatically.
just a note, on the other sheets, the requester won't be a column anymore, it will just be a name in the cell A1 since that sheet will be dedicated to him/her.

thank you in advance for the support

ps: i've gone through similar columns but couldn't find/understand something that will help me.

Here is something. Since you didn't provide sample data I don't know what you mean by "if without duplicates"

    Re: Index if without duplicates

I used a feature called Excel Table. By converting a range of data to Excel Table you automatically get dynamic named ranges. That is, you can refer to a range of cells by name. The Excel Table expands automatically as new data is added. This always gives the correct ranges to use in formulas, you don't need to include 1000 rows extra just to be sure. I deleted your format before converting it to Excel Table as it contains its own styles. Click somewhere in the table, then click on Table Tools, Design at the top of the screen. Here you can select ready made styles. You can also just add format, like bold text. Here is more info:http://www.jkp-ads.com/articles/Excel2007tables.asp

The formula in the first column is an array formula, it has to be entered by Ctrl+Shift+Enter. By calculating the row number in a separate column first the formulas in the following columns become much easier, just using index.

    Re: Index if without duplicates

Glad to hear it worked! Updated version taking care of zeros here.
    It's just a matter of doing IF(formula=0,"-",formula).
Wrap it up with IFERROR on the outside: IFERROR(IF(formula=0,"-",formula),"-")
I only did GH2, just copy that sheet by dragging the tab while holding down Ctrl.
