Updating a date based on a specific selection from a drop down.

I know how to use VLOOKUP to update a cell based on criteria, my issue is on the attached spreadsheet I need the date to ONLY update if H and R are selected. If X and P are selected it is to do nothing (including not erasing the date currently in the cell).

    Hi,

It's not clear, at least to me, what you're asking for.

You'll need to manually add your expected results, tell us where the results are and notes as to how you've arrived at the results. Be sure to include all permutations of data.

Without using Visual Basic coding, formulas only drive the outputs of the cells there are in, not the output of other cells.

If your workbook was set up differently without any starting dates in the cells to begin with, circular references could be set up to iterively calculate based on the value of themselves.

Where do you want to put your formula?

I figured it wouldn't be usable with a formula, the above code from ChemistB worked for exactly what I needed. I did have to change the "Now" to "Date" since adding the time was interfering with another calculation but thank you for the prompt response everyone.
