Match 2 columns to see missing data

    Hello:

    Files are here

    https://www.dropbox.com/sh/cx649pu04eug3fm/UEgBMw7CFn

I am trying to match these two lists..

The file named "salinas_item_list_start" has all the items I think I need. The file named "EFS salinas physical inventory" has the items I know I need.

I want to be able to match these two lists to see if I do indeed have are the items in that first file named "salinas_item_list_start"...

I am trying to print barcode labels for all the products listed on "EFS salinas physical inventory" .... the items on "salinas_item_list_start" are currently in our system to generate barcodes, however i don't want to print a barcode for a particular item if it is not on "EFS salinas physical inventory" ...

so I am trying to match these two lists...

Not sure if I described my problem well enough so just let me know.

    Thanks everyone!

As external links are potentially unsafe, perhaps post the file on the forum - Thx

You could copy the list from "EFS Salinas Physical Iventory" and pastin it next to "salinas_item_list" the sort the "EFS Salinas Physical Iventory" list and use VLOOKUP to compair the two columns.

Be aware of problems with wrongly entered data i.e. in the "salinas_item" you have "CLINCHERS:cgecjln" but in "EFS Salinas" list it's called "CLINCHERS;cgecjln" so VLOOKUP gives a "#N/A" error.

Re: Match 2 columns to see missing data

Ok, no problem I made a comparasing between the two lists.

The formula is "=VLOOKUP(C2,data,1,FALSE)" where the C2 value comes from the "salinas_item_list". The "data" range is the "Salinas Physicall Invetory Form" and the 1 is the first column in the "data" range, lastly the "FALSE" requires an exact match between the value in the C column and the E column.

If no match formula result will be "#N/A" as for instance in cell G3 where "APRONS:ammlwg" in "salinas_item_list" is not found in "Salinas Physicall Invetory Form"
