Multiplication with VLOOKUP from different worksheet

    Greetings all,

The question I am about to ask might have been answered before, but please bear with me as I have gone through multiple threads and cannot seem to get a through understand on how I should make the formula.

Basically I have setup a VLOOKUP on worksheet 1 to look up the different comp & its weight on worksheet 2 when I input the color in A1 in worksheet 1. I would like to have the VLOOKUP value of D2 to be multiply by to dynamic value in B2 to give me the result in D3. I cannot seem to get it to work (I am an excel dummy!).

Please offer your advises or insights which can help me with this mind bobbling formula. I have attached the excel file here. cal3.xls

    Thank you in advance!

    best regards,

    Mozie

welcome to the forum, Mozie. maybe next time, you could type in manually the answers you are hoping to see. my guess would be this formula in D3:
    =VLOOKUP($A2,'worksheet 2'!$A:$G,MATCH(C$1,'worksheet 2'!$2:$2,0)+1,0)*$B2

go to worksheet 2 & delete the extra space in D2.

Thanks, if you have clicked on the * and added our rep.

    Hi Ben,

    Thanks for your reply!
I tried with your formula but it returned #VALUE!. It turns out the numerical value in worksheet 2 was format as text. So problem solved!
    Thanks again!
