I would like to start by referencing this thread, it's where I started:
http://www.excelforum.com/excel-form...ther-cell.html
Please see attached Spreadsheet
Basically, I need to display 1 if the base is “TEXT” before the underscore is present. Unless the underscore is followed by only a specific word/letter combo.
I know you may be saying why don’t I program each one individually. Well the formula seems to ignore the next –if(isnumber and reverts back to the first one programmed, therefore giving us a 1 result.
Additionally, sometimes a new source is added that should reflect result of 1 that I may be unaware of, so if it is added it will show up and correctly display 1. Someone might add TEXT_INMYCAR that is supposed to show up as a 1, I want the rule that will catch it because of the base of “TEXT”. That is why I don’t want to program each source type individually, the only time I would is if a category of other than 1 needs to display.
In my “5 BLOCK” example
Any time a 5 is displayed after TEXT_ base then it is still categorized as a 1
It needs to ignore the first command to categorize it as 1 if the base is “TEXT”
TEXT_5 BLOCK
TEXT_5 TIME
TEXT_5 What What!
In the attached example, TEXTS should display 20, but the TEXT is being captured and a 1 is displaying.
I can’t change the source name or desired categories.
Thank you,
Price
