    Color Scale Formatting with Formula

The column that I want to format is inventory days in house based off avg daily usage.
There are 1170 item numbers with inventory days ranging from 0 to 12125
I want to have a "heat map" looking format where 60 days is green (preferred) and the farther the inventory moves from 60 days the closer to red (not preferred) the cells get.

I was trying to use color scale conditional formatting and tried to put a formula in but could not get it to work because it can't reference cells (I think?).

Can anyone help, or just provide a better definition of what type of formula I could use?

I have created a sample document for you to adapt.

I have used conditional formmating in bands of 0.25 month.

Thanks, I tried the same formatting, it's not exactly what I wanted but the fact that that's where other heads went is good enough...

I'm still curious how to change the 3-scale using a formula that doesn't reference specific cells... image attached color scales formula.jpg
