Need to show results from either 1st OR 2nd cell

Hopefully this is an easy one for people here, however i have been close to throwing my laptop around the room...

I am trying to enter a formula where the cell shows the results from either two other cells.

    For example...

There will be values in either A1 or B1. There will never be values in both.

I want C1 to show either A1 or B1 depending on which has a value in it....

I thank you in advance for your help.

(the spreadsheet i am working on is much more complex than the example above, however I should be able to convert any answers to suit my needs)

Poor thread titles, like Please Help, Urgent, Need Help, Formula Problem, Code Problem, and Need Advice will be addressed according to the OP's experience in the forum: If you have less than 10 posts, expect (and respond to) a request to change your thread title. If you have 10 or more posts, expect your post to be locked, so you can start a new thread with an appropriate title.

To change a Title on your post, click EDIT then Go Advanced and change your title, if 2 days have passed ask a moderator to do it for you.
