    If statement and/or lookup help

    Hi Everyone,

I have a problem where I have to filter on three separate groups of information. Small, Medium and Large projects. The size of the project is determined by a number. Based on the filters in my spreadsheet (project classification data), the number (which determines the size of the project) will be automatically generated. So, I'll have the size range of a small project, medium project and large project.

From what I've been able to figure out,I need to do one of two things.
    1. I either need to put a value next to a number, based on what the parameters are for a range of sizes
    2. Or I need to be able to have 3 pivot tables on one sheet, linking to three different sheets, all having the same filter (I'm happy to filter three times, or once, whichever is more possible/easy)

I attach a spreadsheet for number one, since I think this will be the easiest. If this is complicated, I'll explain the pivot table method a bit more.

    Sizes.xlsx

I'm looking for a value in Column C. You can see my expected results in Column D. The rules are stated in I9:I11, and the sizes are worked out in I1:I6.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks!

Ps. Sorry for not doing things right the first time. I'm not really sure what type of function I'm really needing help with.

Re: If statement and/or lookup help

Ok, I managed to do it with 3 nested if statements. But, I'm sure there must be a better way of doing this?

    Anybody?

    Hi,

Thanks for the help! That does cut down on the formula size tremendously, yes, so it definitely helps!

Is there any way to change the array to not be hard coded?

    Formula: copy to clipboard

Is there a way to make those values become cell values? I tried, but it doesn't want to accept it.

    How would you replace the

    with

    ?

    Hi,

    thanks for your kind feedback.

You could create a little table in E2:F4 .

    E2=0 E3=7 E4=15 F2=Small F3=Medium F4=Large
