Help please with simple " if then" formulas

I'd be very thankful if anyone can help me a simple formula for these 3 steps please.
I'm not a regular Excel user and all I want to do a simple thing, nothing more....................
I have a spreadsheet with 3 columns ( Wow....complicated, hey ! ). The first 2 columns have figs and the third column has the names of zodiac signs in it.

All the figures in columns A and B go from 0 to 29 inclusive. I type thousands of things into columns B and C . I have to constantly adjust Column A. it is extremely time-consuming and prone to eror, so if anyone can help .........I need a quick way of adjusting column A.

1---I need a formula which says " If the zodiac signs in column C are either tau or leo or sco or aqu and the figures in column B are between 0 and 14 ( inclusive), then I want 30 to be added to that figure from column B and putting into the same row in column A. So for example, if C17 was tau and B17 was 12, then I would the formula to add 30 to the 12 in cell B17 and put it in cell A17, giving 42.

2--Another formula which says " If the months in columns C are either tau or leo or sco or aqu" and the numbers in column B are 15 to 29 ( inclusive), then I need the number which is in column B to have 15 subtracted from it and that number to be written in Col A. Example ..... Col C says leo. Col B has 28 in it, so I need 15 subtracting from that, which gives me an answer of 13 and I need that 13 writing in column A.

3--Finally, another formula which says " If the signs in column C are gem or vir or sag or pis, " then I want the figure in col B to have 15 added to it and put in col A. Example .... there is a vir in Col C and there is a number 7 in column B. So, I want 15 adding to 7 . The answer is 22 and I want this putting in the corresponding row in Column A.

I hope that makes sense ! I'd be very grateful for any help but I'm not a techie at all. Any replies will have to assume I'm 5 years old.
I know this sounds very, very cheeky but the fully worked out formulas will be most welcome.
I only have excel 2003, if that matters.
    Thanks in advance.

A cell is not able to add something to itself, with formula.
It can be done with VBA.
