    Sumif help please

Can I look up 2 criteria? One by typing in the word in inverted columns from a specific column on another sheet e.g. "Superannuation" AND another a cell reference in the existing sheet. How do I specify both in my criteria part of the formula? I have tried using & but it is not returning the correct sum - it gives me zero as I suppose it doesn't know what to look for? My formula looks something like this now =SUMIF(Range,A9&"Superannuation",Sum_Range) - but as I say it is not working.

    Look at SUMIFS.

    Re: Sumif help please

You can use SUMIFS instead, which allows you to specify more than one criteria. The syntax is slightly different than SUMIF:

    =SUMIFS(sum_range,condition_range_1,condition_1,condition_range_2,condition_2 ... and so on )

i.e. you put the sum_range first, and then you have pairs of terms which relate to the different conditions that you want to check for. So in your case it might be:

    =SUMIFS(sum_range,range_1,"Superannuation",range_2,A9)

    Hope this helps.

    Not real clear.

Do you mean if Range = A9 OR Superannuation ?
