Conditional formatting - Greater than or equal to

Having an issue with the greater than or equal to formula in conditional formatting.
I have a worksheet with text and numbers in it and and trying to affect only the numbers. I have about 450 rows to set different conditions to so i am highlighting whole rows instead of specific cells to try to save some time.

So when i have my selected row/s and i set my greater than or equal to formula to highlight the cell to a specific color, the cells with just text are being highlighted as well as the cells with numbers.

Is there a way for this to not happen?

Re: Conditional formatting - Greater than or equal to

I highlight the rows I want affected
    open conditional formatting
select - cell value is - greater than or equal to - enter my limit number - set to highlight cell red when limit # is met or exceeded.

words and dates in that row are also being highlighted

    does that help?

Attach a sample workbook. Make sure there is just enough data to make it clear what is needed. Include a BEFORE sheet and an AFTER sheet in the workbook if needed to show the process you're trying to complete or automate. Make sure your desired results are demonstrated, mock them up manually if needed. Remember to desensitize the data.

Re: Conditional formatting - Greater than or equal to

    Words are >0 to Excel.
Dates are actually numbers, so they are all >0 to Excel.

What is the range of numbers we're dealing with here? The numeric values for dates since 1960 are all 20000 and higher... so if the values you're wanting to test for being greater than a certain number could never reach that high, it would be simple to add a LESS than value as well.

    Condition1: Formula:
    =AND(A1>=50, A1<=22000, NOT(ISTEXT(A1))

Re: Conditional formatting - Greater than or equal to

In Excel 2003 rather than using "cell value is" choose "formula is" and and type the formula in the box - you need to apply the formula to the top left cell in the selected range, so if you have selected the range C2:J10 then you need to apply the formula to C2. For numbers greater than 0 try

    =COUNT(C2)*(C2>0)

here is a test worksheet of what is happening.

it is a car part life sheet to keep track of mileage on certain parts. there is about 450 rows to fill.
so parts will have the name at left and then a description or date installed above the current mileage on that part
