Question Formula for calculating warehouse picking rate

Good morning, I wonder if someone might help me please?

I am trying (and failing miserably) to create a fomula to 'score' my pickers in a warehouse environment.

    The basic variables are;

    1) Units (Total quantity of units on picklist)
    2) Lines (Number of different products on picklist)
    3) Time (Total time to complete pick)

    To give an example, if Units = 8, Lines = 1 and Time = 00:01, I want 'Score' to = 100.
(Based on benchmark, rounded down to lowest common denominators)

The added complication I face is the relationship between Lines and Units; it would take someone longer to pick 1 unit from 10 lines than 10 units from 1 line.

If anyone has any way to make this work I would be forever in indebted!

    Regards,

    Richard.

    Hi,

Only you can tell us what algorithm or rule should be used to create the score. Once we know that then no doubt we can help.

You mention the term 'benchmark' without giving us any idea what it is or how it should be used. Ideally we need the rules and then a sample table of inputs and the scores you expect for each example.

Trivially the answer to your question as so far stated is
    Formula: copy to clipboard

where A1:C1 are the units, line & time. But it's almost certain this will not deliver the results you want for other values.

    Hi,

    Couldn't agree more with Richard.

Perhaps the principal aptitude which unites the many contributors to this site is the ability to take instructions/requests in everyday language and to translate them into the necessary syntax in order to be able to formulate and then solve the problem in Excel.

Of course, the actual instructions and logical criteria need to be stipulated by yourself first...
