On the attached spreadsheet there are a choice of 10 columns that can have data entered in to.
Is it possible to limit this so that if more than 6 are filled in an error/warning message appears? Basicallly only 6 out of the 10 columns should have a numbers in.

As you've already used data validation for the drop-down lists, you could put a hidden message in cell M6 (and copy this down). You would write your message in white, and then set it to turn red (i.e. appear) if this condition is met:
=COUNT(B6:K6)>6
