Hi,
I get an error when I try to inverse the 6x6 matrix.
Should give me a 6x6 matrix again.
I've attached a screenshot.Screenshot 2014-03-22 22.07.28.png
I run excel 2010
Hi,

Should give me a 6x6 matrix again.

I run excel 2010
First, select the results range eg: B34:G39
Then place the formula in the formula bar: =MINVERSE(B15:G20)
Press CTRL+SHIFT+ENTER to array-enter the formula

Any good? Wave it, whack the the little star at the bottom left of my responses
Hi Max,
I've done exactly that and I get thisScreenshot 2014-03-22 23.19.16.png

Perhaps you might want to check up Excel help on that function?
This remark seems relevant to your instance:
Some square matrices cannot be inverted and will return the #NUM! error value with MINVERSE.
well i tryied it just with a part of the 6x6 matrix,
the upper left 3x3 matrix and it worked.
i increased the calculating steps in the option after the help function suggested that. nothing changed
In a single cell, enter =mdeterm(B15:G20)
What's that return?
Entia non sunt multiplicanda sine necessitate
Doh -- never mind. The first two columns are the same, so the matrix is singular (non-invertible).
So are the third and fourth columns.
Ah thanks shg!
