I have attached a shortened down version of a ss I am using. The sheet records cancellations each month by policy type, what I am wanting to do is in the first 3 tables, named; H&C canx, MV Canx and Commercial Canx is have those tables total by reason code each month. So I need a formula that will look up, the policy type and reason code and return totals each month. (if possible!)

Is this how your sheet is set up in practice, or are the July/August/etc. tables on separate sheets? I think the structure of your current SS could be considerably improved

Is there a reason for this? Is it possible to have an 'input' sheet and a separate 'summary' sheet?

The only reason I ask is that having 2 sheets will make the spreadsheet considerably more user-friendly to maintain

I do have an input sheet, the eg I have attached than copies the data across and calcs all the monthly data for me, however I am trying to make it simplier

It will be easier for us to see the input sheet; it is generally easier to populate a summary table from the raw data than from another summary table.

It looks exactly the same. Each month staff enter details of the policy cancelled, the summary example just copies the data across and than totals up as per reason code, I am hoping to seperate it by policy type, which I currently dont do

Do you have an additional column for the month? Or do you use a row as a header like in the summary examples?

Row as a header, as per example, the example is how the ss appears, just a shortened down version

I have adjusted the formatting a bit; it will make it much easier to manage the spreadsheet (you won't need to add a new table every month and update your formulas)
