NRL Ladder Predictor

Hi guys, first time poster here.

I am trying to create an NRL Ladder predictor but am very much an Excel amateur. I don't rally know where to begin. All I have done is filled in the ladder and told Excel that when someone wins, they get 2 points, when they draw they get 1 and when they have a bye they get 2 points and made it add up in the 'points' column.
I also put in a formula so it adds up games played. I also tried to sort the ladder by points(largest to smallest) but then when I went to add in 2 wins for the sharks, they stayed at the bottom and didn't move :|
But what I want to do is have a tab for each round, enter in the scores and have it effect the ladder and then move the teams up and down according to results(As ladder predictors do). Apparently it's something to do with VLookup and IF Function which I have no idea about?
