    Prints portrait but not landscape

Excel 2007 SP3 Win 7P...Trying to print a spread sheet (any spreadsheet created new or 13 years old). When orientation is landscape...only partial page prints...sometimes 8.5 columns (1/2 page wide) print to 1.5 columns wide (1/5 page width)...and always print in portrait, no matter the if landscape is chosen and previewed as landscape.

A work around was to print through print preview, kinda...It would show the sheet in landscape, but when I chose print I can see it convert back to portrait, cancel print, reformat as landscape and it would print all of the page....an hour later it won't.

I just realized that if a worksheet is in portrait and printed as such the whole page prints...take the same sheet, change it to landscape, and only part of it prints...and not in full columns

BTW: this started in the last 7 days....I have restarted and rebooted laptop a number of times today, just to see.

BTW2: printed a worksheet from my phone...perfect...same worksheet from my desk, not so much!

    Thanks in advance,

    Jim

    Hi,

Is there a Before_Print macro by any chance that's defaulting to portrait?

not that I am aware of...though I have been using excel since the early '90's I do not use macros much...having said that maybe I need to disable all macros.

    Nope that didn't work!

    Thanks

I have uninstalled printer and reinstalled it...didn't think it would make a difference and it didn't

    1) In Office 2007... What if any are the ramifications of uninstalling excel and reinstalling in an attempt to fix this printing issue.
    2) Would upgrading to Office 013 fix this issue?

90% of what I print is in landscape...if only it would.

My guess is that uninstalling/re-install or upgrading to Office 2013 wouldn't make any difference.

What's the printer you're sending it to? Is it possible that the printer has some software and/ or settings that might be intervening. Is it a network printer or one attached directly to your PC

If you'd like to upload the workbook I'll happily take a look and see if I can see anything obvious.

Re: Prints portrait but not landscape

    Richard,
Thanks for your offer, I may take you up on it later, but here the resolution...so far:

No matter where I change the orientation whether it's layout>orientation...Layout>page setup...Preview>orientation it will not print in landscape and it only prints partial pages

After doing all those selections when I open Print>Properties>Features...portrait is still checked. When select landscape all is right with my world.

I just can't figure out why none of the excel orientation selections are being passed on to the printer, a cheap HO 309 all in one that has been printing this same spreadsheet for years. BTW I have used and copied this same sheet for 13 years as it is my primary estimating worksheet and is on copy #2900 and never once hade this issue in any of the 5 different printers I have burned up!

    Thanks again,
    Jim
