Locking Cell Formatting so dragging doesn't change layout?

does anybody know if there's a way to lock the cell formatting so when I drag formulas across the worksheet the existing formating (colors, border width, etc) isnt affected?

    dont use the fill handle
    copy the formula

    paste /special/formulas

Click on the first cell where you have your formula, Press and Hold Ctrl+Shift and use arrow down until you reach the last cell. Release Ctrl+Shift, press F2, press and hold Ctrl key and hit Enter.
