    Multiple unwanted cells selected

I'm sure you've all encountered that amazingly annoying glitch where you click on one cell and 4 or 5 others highlight with it. F8 does not do the trick to stop it. Sometimes changing the zoom will work to get it to stop, but not always (like now).

Google search shows that this is not an uncommon issue. So my question is why the hell hasn't Microsoft fixed it? I shouldn't have to arbitrarily change the zoom on a sheet for Excel to start working properly.

I felt a greater need to vent at the moment. I'm sure it's been asked, though.

Cruise the Microsoft help forums and you'll see the issue. I haven't seen one that wasn't from Excel 2007. Not the end of the world, but it's a huge PITA that I and others have been putting up with for years.

    Re: Multiple unwanted cells selected

I posted just a few days ago about this issue. I am finally able to get back on line to see about a response, but found this thread first. I am running Microsoft Office Professional 2010 and I am having the problem.

Sometimes clicking on the ribbon makes it stop.

    Re: Multiple unwanted cells selected

I'll try the ribbon next time. Thank you.

It's just such a random issue and quite frustrating that I have to stop my workflow to get it to stop. Sometimes all I can do is close excel and reopen it.

This problem occurs in 2010 as well. The issue seems to occur when the zoom is on. If you set the zoom to 100% the problem is resolved

    Re: Multiple unwanted cells selected

That all depends. It's happened to me at 100% zoom as well. There are times where changing the zoom fixes the issue, but I don't think the issue is isolated to when you're already zoomed in.
