Linked cells showing #REF when source file is not open

    Hi,

both two spreadsheets are in the same folder.

if both two spreadsheets are open, the cells linked are showing properly, but if close both and then open the destination spreadsheet (not the source file), and enable the link, all the linked cells are showing #REF, however, if i open the source file, then have a look at the destination file, everything comes up.

Is there a way to solve this problem, and make all linked cells up to date when only the destination file is open??

    thanks a lot

I think people forget the word "THANK YOU!!!!" Do you still know it???

There is a little star ( ADD REPUTATION ) below those person who helped you. Click it to say your "PRIVATE APPRECIATION TO THEIR EFFORT ON THEIR CONTRIBUTIONS "

    Regards,
    Vladimir

I used VLOOKUP, so the source file is like a lookup table.

    Hope this explains.

    something like this should work.

    =VLOOKUP(A1,'[C:\Documents\Excel Files\Charles\SOURCE.xlsx]Sheet1'!$A$1:$B$100,2,0)
