    vlook or index match

    Hello,

I would like to have a formula to link 2 sets of data based on the name of a person in one column. I have used both the VLOOKUP and the Index Match formulas in the past but in each case the item that I was looking up or matching was exactly the same. Example I would be looking for Bill Smith and only match to the exact spelling of Bill Smith. I would like to mach any cell that has "Bill" in it.

Any help or thoughts would be great!

Also, if this could be programmed in VBA that would be an additional bonus!!

    Thank you in advance.
