    Hide formula bar contents

    Hi

I am sure there is a very simple answer to my problem, and have searched, but am having little luck so ask for some help please.

The issue is (I do attach a worksheet) that I need to hide the formula bar, please read on it's not as simple as that.

Basically I have a sheet with tasks on it for students, it also contains the answers which are hidden with conditional formatting (courtesy of support from here, thank you) and appear when a password is entered. This all works great. However, the students can see the answers and the password in the IF statement if they look at the formula bar. I knew this would be an issue so hid the bar before making the file available to download to the students. However, when they open the file the formula bar isn't hidden, the normal convention of hiding is obviously machine specific. Problem not solved.

So I did my research and came across this code:

I have used this and again, whilst it works for me, it doesn't work for other users when they open it. So, to conclude, I need something that hides the formula before all users of this file. Or, something which hides the contents of the formula bar.

Apologies if this seems very simple, but help is much appreciated as it will benefit my students greatly.

    Thanks in advance.

Put your code in the ThisWorkbook section in the VBE and not on a particular sheet.

Thank you for the advice. I am not entirely sure what you mean though. When I click the attachment I get 'invalid attachment' so if it's some instructions I can't open them.

I went into the code for the workbook, selected ThisWorkbook under the VBA Project and pasted the code in here instead. I think that's what you mean? Still no joy, when another user tested it it still opened with the formula bar. Advise gratefully received.

    Thank you

    Re: Hide formula bar contents

When I opened your file (the original one), the formula bar was visible. When I cut the code from the Sheet and put it in the ThisWorkbook, closed the file and saved it and then opened it, it hid the formula bar, so I don't know what the issue is. I did notice in the second file you have attached, the code is in Sheet1 and not in ThisWorkbook.

    Re: Hide formula bar contents

Hi there. Got it working thanks. It would appear you need to double click to get into the ThisWorkbook, i was single clicking and thought i was selecting it. Learnt something else new. Much appreciated.
