Creating a chart with segments another color

    Hi,
I am creating a graph for data that I collected. It was pretty easy to create. The problem is that I want to be able to have certain segments a red color. This is the data that I have
    3 380
    0 831
    0 1374
    0 1570
    0 1928
    0 2403
    0 3003
    0 3703
    0 4128
    0 4333
    0 4777
    0 5283
    1 5732
    1 6184
    1 6822
    0 6974
    0 7310
    0 7700
    0 7995
    0 8040
    0 8402
    0 8531
    0 9208
    3 9473
    1 10006
    0 10450
    0 11072
    1 11424
    1 11691
    1 12177
    0 12925

I would like to create a line segment which is easy to do. But I need certain segments to be red. Such as this the line segment between 10006-10450 should be red. And the segment from 11424-11691 should be red too. Is that possible? How do I do that? I have attached my current chart that does not have the red.

Re: Creating a chart with segments another color

You can do it manually by doing the following:
    1. Select the blue line on the chart, and click on it again so that only a single point is selected. Specifically, select the right-most point of the line segment that you want to colour (10450 or 11691)
    2. Right-click and select Format Data Point
    3. Choose Line Color from the right-hand pane
    4. Choose Solid line
    5. Select your desired colour from the colour chooser

If your data is constantly changing, you may want an automated solution using VBA, which I can provide if you wish, but it is a fairly in-depth task so I will only go down that path if absolutely necessary.

    I hope this helps

As long as the series only has 1 section of data points the leading and trailing #N/A's will not be drawn.
