    Hiding Excel Tabs

    Hello again.

I was wondering if anyone knew if there was a way to hide the available tabs in an excel worksheet.

I know you may be thinking just right click and hide, however what I am looking for is a little different.

Basically I have a Macro Enabled work sheet which works on a "one click" system. The work sheet is full of buttons with assigned macros and data validation drop down boxes which link to many different tabs. The entire sheet is for information only so I will be locking the sheets to avoid data manipulation. The problem with right clicking and hiding the tabs is that it interfears with the macros.

All I really want to do is make these tabs not visible. I have set the sheet to open in full screen mode and they obviously are still there, but this is basically what I am looking to do. Not so much hide them in terms of sending them into the background, more so make them "drop off" the bottom of the screen to they are still active but not visible.

    I hope this makes sense?

    Many thanks,

    Andy.

    Re: Hiding Excel Tabs

    Hi Andy,

    Thank you for the response.

Please excuse my ignorance as I am not very familiar with VBA. How to you propose I enter this code?

I have done Alt F11, gone into Tool then Options, however I dont see the View or Sheet Tabs?

    I am on Excel 2010.

    Many thanks,

    Andy

    Re: Hiding Excel Tabs

Tools > Options > View > Sheet Tabs.

These are the workbook menu items for 2003, which you have as your office version in your profile.

For 2010 you would use ribbon,

File > Options > Advanced > Display options for this workbook > Sheet tabs.

For code use, that line would go somewhere in your existing code. Probably near the line where you set full screen mode.

    Re: Hiding Excel Tabs

Ah brilliant! Was exactly what I was looking for (used the File > Options method).

Now, if another user opens the file, will they see the Tabs, or will their settings need to be amended?

    Re: Hiding Excel Tabs

Given the description "Display options for this workbook" I would say the next user will also not see tabs. But you could easily test that by save/closing the workbook after setting applied and then reopen it.
