Scatter chart - 3 variables including time duration? Won't "scatter"?

I've attached the 3 columns that I am trying to form a scatter chart with.

I am wanting to see essentially have a visual on the correlation between Duration (DD:HH:MM:SS), Profitable(% time it was in profit relative to the duration) and Profit(£ overall outcome).

The three columns have all the data points already, but I literally do not have the foggiest idea on how to get these three data points scattered?

Any helps will be massively appreciated

1st observation: column B duration is entered as text strings. Excel is not going to be able to give any numerical meaning to these values. If you want to plot these on a scatter plot, the first thing you will need to do is convert these to some kind of meaningful number. If you cannot change these at the data entry step, then a helper column with a function like =left(B2,2)+mid(B2,4,2)/24+mid(B2,7,2)/24/60+right(B2,2)/24/60/60 will convert these to fractional days.

How much of this question is about Excel and how much is a more generic "how do I make sense of this data"? Once you know which column(s) to use for the x data and which column(s) to use for the y data, creating a scatter plot is relatively easy (http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/ex...478.aspx?CTT=1 ).

If the question is more a "how do I decide which columns to use for y data and which columns to use for x data" -- that can be a harder and more subjective question to answer. After a really quick look, I don't see any obvious choice. Here are several possibilities -- create charts based on these to see if they help you see which direction you need to take this:

    x data column --- y data column
    A ---- B
    A ----- C
    B ----- A
    B ----- C
    and so on
    other ---- A
    other ---- B
    other ---- C

My best advice at this point is to try some of these different combinations and see if you can see what you want to see.
