    Tournament Table progression

    Hi all,

I wasn't sure if this should be in General or in Formulas, but I am having an issue with a tournament table I am creating. I have a screenshot of the draft table included fifa table.png. Basically, it is a tournament with multiple matches in the first two rounds, followed by knockout for the consecutive rounds. it is easy enough to use an IF function to progress players automatically in the later rounds, but I am having difficulty moving successful players form round 1 and 2 onwards, as due to the additional players, I can't use the IF function (or at least I'm not sure how).

In the attached image, players 1 and 2 from Group 1 and players 6 and 7 from Group 2 should all be moving into the second prelim round. Can someone please help me figure out how to find the top scoring players from each group in prelim round 1 and 2 and successfully transfer them into the next rounds?

    Thanks

Ah ok, cheers. See attached. Basically I want to be able to add points for each round and it will automatically move the highest scoring players in the prelim rounds through to their next rounds. I will use an IF function for the later rounds, so they are fine.FIFA event table.xlsx

    Hey JBeaucaire,

I was wondering if you could help me out again? I realised that the scoring in the first two rounds of the table may get as high as 3, which throws out the formula. I am happy to edit myself if you have a suggestion for what needs to be changed.

    Kind regards

    Re: Tournament Table progression

Assuming the problem lies in the determination of the rank2, I've amended the formulas for B9 & B11, then copied those groups down column B. Then I repeated that process for column AK.
