Clearing all cells in a range

Hi guru's

A colleague has just had XL2013 loaded onto his computer, up from XL2007. Most things I have been able to help him with, but he's just come across something that I don't know how to fix (I use 2013 at home, but I am most familiar with 2010 which is provided at work). If he selects a range of cells and hits the delete key the whole range is cleared. If he hits the Backspace key (his preference) it only clears the active cell. Is there a way to change that so the backspace key clears the entire range selected?

Don't think there is a way to change that behavior. I feel 'BACKSPACE' is somehow linked to the active cell (like SHIFT+BACKSPACE would actually select the active cell within the selected range). If there's a workaround, I'd like to know it too (will follow this thread).

That sounds kind of counter-intuative. In a cell, you "delete" the entire contents, and in edit mode, you "back-space" 1 char at at time. So with a range, it is doing the same thing (on 2007 as well as 2010 and 2013 - nothing has changed there) "delete" clears the whole range, "backspace" clears the actice cell.

Just copy this code to your original worksheet.. and Run On_Key Macro....
Then try selecting the range and hit BACKSPACE.. it will perform like you hit DELETE...
However, if you hit BACKSPACE in edit mode.. it will perform as usual...
