Sum columns based on header name

    I have data as follows

Header Actual Actual Actual Forecast Forecast Forecast
    Amount 1 1 1 1 1 1
    Amount 2 2 2 2 2 2
    Total 3 3 3 3 3 3

I need to sum up the total row with any columns with "Actual" in them thus would expect a result of 9.

    Thanks in advance

With your sample data in A1:G4
this regular formula begins listing the Actual totals by row

Copy that formula down as far as you need.

Is that something you can work with?

Re: Sum columns based on header name

Was trying to use Index and Match

Sometimes the best options are also the simplest.

    Thanks
