Apply formatting from named range items during data validation (pull down list)

Hello. I'm trying to create a leave planner. Could you help me to understand how I apply the same colour fill, as per the same item in the named range 'Leave type', to the cell where I am selecting from the pull down list?
I.e. If I select 'AL - Full Day' from the pull down list in cell C4, I would like the cell to become orange filled as per the same item in the named range. As always, any help is much appreciated.

You need to set up 8 additional rules in Conditional formatting - one rule for each color. Select the rule to be based on a formula. For example =C4=$T$3, then =C4=$T$4 and so on. Put these rules only in C4, then click OK to close Conditional formatting. Select C4 and use Format Painter to apply the rules to all other cells.

Thanks. I had hoped there was a way to apply directly based on the named range properties. Appreciate the help.
