yes, help's a lot.

is there a corresponding way to get the format of a column [e.g.] =COLUMN("format",A)?

is there also maybe a way to do it by just clicking on the cell or column to instantaneously display the format?

Ron may know of a way, but Im going to have to say no, to both of those questions.

A column can contain a different format for each cell in it, so no way can you get the format of a column
You can rt-click on a cell or column and go into formats to see what the format is
1. Use code tags for VBA.
Your Code
(or use the # button)
2. If your question is resolved, mark it SOLVED using the thread tools

By "format" I'm guessing you're only interested in the number format. (There are also fonts, fill color/pattern, borders, etc)

A column typically has more than one number format. But, even if it didn't, there's no column format display.

Since you have Excel 2007, when you click on a cell...the number format for the active cell displays in the ribbon.

I hope that helps.
