    Simple Conditional Format

For some reason I can't figure this out, I know it is simple.

I just need the value of row 17 to highlight red when it is greater than the value of row 16. These are in percents, such as:
    Row 17=2.5% (Needs highlighted red)
    Row 16=1.7%

    Any help is much appreciated.

    Re: Simple Conditional Format

In CF rules in Row 17 use

    =A17>A16

    Format -- Red

    Re: Simple Conditional Format

It depends whether you want to highlight row 17 or just A17 (assuming your percentage values are in col. A).
If you want to highlight only the cell which contains % value, =A17>A16 will do the trick, but if you want to highlight whole row 17 or a particular range in row 17, select the desired range in row 17 and use formula =$A17>$A16 to make a new rule for conditional formatting and set format as per your choice.

    Re: Simple Conditional Format

I tried typing these in and it is only highlighting column A for some reason. Here is Rows A:E if this will help.

    A B C D E
    16 Projected Production Attrition % 1.7% 1.7% 1.0% 1.6%
    17 Actual Production Attrition % 4.43% 5.15% 4.35% 5.0%

    Re: Simple Conditional Format

Assuming as per your example data, the percentage values are in col. B, C, D and E, so which percentage values are being compared? Is it only one column amongst B, C, D and E or values of all the columns i.e. the A17:E17 should be highlighted only if B17, C17, D17 and E17 all are greater than B16, C16, D16 and E16 respectively.

    Re: Simple Conditional Format

The values that should be highlighted are b:bb if row 17>row 16.

    Re: Simple Conditional Format

You mean values in col. B are being compared to set conditional formatting, if so follow these steps.......
Select the range A17:E17 --> Conditional Formatting --> New Rule --> Use a Formula to determine which cells to format --> In the box below, "Format values where this formula is true", paste the formula given below --> Format --> Fill --> Select Red color --> OK.

    Re: Simple Conditional Format

This still is not working, I think it's issue is the values are formulas that convert to a percentage. It won't highlight for example: 3% in row 17 even though it is greater than the 1% in row 16.

    Re: Simple Conditional Format

Better you attach a sample workbook. Make sure there is just enough data to demonstrate your need. Include a BEFORE sheet and an AFTER sheet in the workbook if needed to show the process you're trying to complete or automate. Make sure your desired results are shown, mock them up manually if necessary.

    Remember to desensitize the data.

Click on GO ADVANCED and use the paperclip icon to open the upload window.

    Re: Simple Conditional Format

So if the actual is greater than the projected percent I want it to highlight red. 14 goes with 15 and 16 goes with 17. Thank you I really appreciate your help!

The formula used for conditional formatting is

and the above rule is applied to the range $14:$100 (row 14 to row 100).

Is this what you are trying to achieve?
